Eco-Wheels 2013 is happening this Sunday from 11am-5pm, at Railroad Park! It’s Birmingham’s first green car show featuring the most current trends in alternative transportation including, hybrids, natural gas and electric vehicles. The event will also host local industry experts and vehicle dealers, as well as several area environmental nonprofits. All will be on site to offer insight about everything from the basics of greener transportation, to news of the very latest technology in this market.
The all electric Tesla Model S and Roadster, Chevy Volt, and Toyota Prius, are just a few of the cars that will be on display.
“As a strong supporter of our city’s growing environmentally conscious practices, My Green Birmingham is excited to hold this event at Birmingham’s acclaimed Railroad Park, a leading example for urban renewal and progress toward creating a more sustainable future,” says My Green Birmingham founder, Natalie Kelly. “Eco-Wheels is designed to help increase the local dialogue in our city related to the many benefits of alternative transportation. It’s our hope that this annual event will also one day be seen as example of our city’s positive progression.”
Eco-Wheels will have loads of giveaways including Birmingham Baron’s baseball tickets & gear, as well as a chance to win $500 in gift cards for the best photos of a featured car in the “@mygreenbham #ecowheels giveaway” on Instagram. In addition, visitors can take advantage of free emissions testing from Alabama Partners for Clean Air, and enjoy other fun giveaways provided by Toyota, Earth Fare, Urban Cookhouse, and more.
This family-friendly event will also feature plenty of fun for kids including face painting, a “Design your own Eco-Car” contest by Toyota, and free kites-while supplies last. DJ Omari Jazz Addae will play music on the Plaza from Noon-3 p.m. Beer, wine, & margaritas will be available for purchase, as well as yummy food from George’s Boxcar Cafe and NOLA Ice.
