2013 Champions of Sustainability Photo Gallery

The first annual Champions of Sustainability was held Thursday, September 5th, at The Westin Birmingham. Hosted by My Green Birmingham, the event honored a diverse spectrum of sustainability efforts helping to shape the future growth and success of the City of Birmingham. 2013 Honorees:

  • Design: Lea Ann Macknally, of ‎Macknally Land Design
  • Environment: Roald Hazelhoff, of Southern Environmental Center
  • Vision: Woodlawn United, represented by Sally Mackin
  • Built Environment: Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport
  • Energy: Nexus Energy Center, represented by Ruchi Singal
  • Social Progress: REV Urban Food Project, represented by David Fleming
  • Advocate: The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, represented by Gus Heard-Hughes

The evening began with a networking hour, followed by the awards program. Guest also enjoyed a featured video presentation of the honorees speaking about their efforts to make an impact in local sustainability. Honorees also took part in a panel discussion, addressing guest comments and questions. The panel was moderated by Pat Byington, Director of the Eastern Forest Partnership and the publisher of Bama Environmental News.
