In honor of Earth month at UAB, the Young Americans for Liberty will host a panel discussion, “Sustaining Liberty” on Tuesday, April 8th, at 6 p.m. The event, which will focus on government’s role in a sustainable society, will also feature former Governor of New Mexico and 2012 Libertarian Presidential candidate, Gary Johnson. The student group will ask questions based upon the ideology that sustainability is not only about the environment, but also about sustainable economic policies as well as business practices and ethics.
Moderated by the University of Alabama at Huntsville’s Sustainability Coordinator, Haley Hix, Panelist include: Dr. Stacie Propst the Executive Director of GASP; Cole Walker of EDT Energy; Gary Johnson the former 2012 Libertarian Presidential candidate; and Paul Driessen, policy analyst and author of the book Eco-Imperialism. “This panel will start a national conversation. Fifty-one years ago, Birmingham ignited the spark that shaped a social reform into the civil rights movement. Birmingham is going to, once again, be the spark of another social movement and we’re excited to see where the conversation will lead,” says YAL President, Laura Pate.
The Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) is a national non-profit pro-liberty organization. The mission of The Young Americans for Liberty is to identify, educate, train, and mobilize youth activists committed to “winning on principle.” Our goal is to cast the leaders of tomorrow and reclaim the policies, candidates, and direction of our government.
“Sustaining Liberty” will be held on UAB’s campus at Blazer Hall, RLC. The panel starts promptly at 6 p.m., and a social gathering will be held afterwards at Das Haus on 2nd Ave. North, in Birmingham.
