Eco-Wheels 2014 Preview: FIAT500

eco-wheelsad2With the return of Eco-Wheels, presented by My Green Birmingham, comes a new round of featured alternative vehicles including two from FIAT. Through a strong commitment to ecological and sustainable mobility, Fiat has earned the title of most eco-performing automaker in Europe.

The FIAT 500 embodies all the iconic qualities that make Italian design so enticing, yet, style alone isn’t the only appeal factor for this vehicle. Visitors to this year’s Eco-Wheels will have a chance to learn more about the FIAT 500’s power-train optimization and the efficiency of its 1.4 Liter Multi-Air engine, which cuts fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 10% while creating 10% more power and 15% more torque. Qualities like these are the reason the FIAT 500 is one of the most efficient vehicles on the road, boasting 31 Miles Per Gallon (MPG) for city driving and 40 MPG for highway driving.

In comparison to the average new vehicle, the FIAT 500 is estimated to save  the average consumer approximately $3,000 in fuel costs in the first five years.

FIAT also developed eco drive, the first application of its kind from an auto manufacturer. EcoDrive helps train the driver to use less fuel, reduce CO2 footprint and save money by driving more efficiently. This allows the user to track driving habits, set goals and improve driving awareness.

The 2nd annual Eco-Wheels will host several local industry experts and dealers to share insight about everything from the basics of greener transportation, to the most current news about the alternative market’s growing technology trends.

Eco-Wheels, Alabama’s only green and alternative vehicle show, will take place on May 4th at Railroad Park. This year’s event will feature the latest trends in alternative transportation including, hybrids, natural gas and electric vehicles, as well as bicycles.
