Has your spouse, child or other loved one always wondered about what life on a farm is really like? This holiday season give them the Farm School experience from Stone Hollow Farmstead and help them find out!
These unique “life on the farm” courses are designed to introduce children and adults to all the joys (and even challenges) of life on the farm. Students will have the opportunity to tour Stone Hollow Farmstead’s dairy and creamery, explore the herb and vegetable gardens and visit with a variety of heritage breed animals.
Other activities may include helping out with morning chores such as milking the goats, collecting eggs, and planting and harvesting the kitchen garden. In the farm kitchen students may also assist in preparing a farmstead lunch using fresh milk yogurt, eggs, meats, and vegetables, many of which will be collected during the morning harvest.
This interactive experience teaches about sustainable farming and animal welfare practices.
The following Farmer for a Day courses are available beginning in March, and will be held the first three Saturday’s of each month. Gift certificates are available for purchase well in advance.
