UAB Accepting Student Applications for Projects that Enhance Campus Sustainability

UAB treeUAB is encouraging students to apply for a new funding opportunity that promotes the initiation of projects related to sustainability on campus. The fund has been established within the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Student Experience.

The goal of the program is to provide grants for endeavors that improve UAB’s sustainability and efficiency and decrease the university’s overall ecological footprint. It also aims to provide leadership opportunities for students to initiate and implement a range of sustainability programs on the UAB campus.

Applications will be reviewed by the UAB Sustainability Investment Fund Board, which is composed of members of representatives from the Undergraduate Student Government Association and the Graduate Student Association, professional school representatives, at-large student representatives, faculty representatives, as well as the UAB Recycling Coordinator and the Director of UAB Energy Management.

The Board is chaired by the Director of Student Engagement and the Coordinator of Sustainability.

The application deadline is Friday, November 6th, and the winners will be announced Friday, December 4th. Students must include both a proposal and budget for their project within the application.
