Get Healthy on the Railroad Exercise Program Returns to Railroad Park

This spring, Railroad Park continues to promote the idea of healthy, outdoor living with the return of one of its most popular programs, Get Healthy on the Railroad. Sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Get Healthy on the Railroad features a different exercise class held each evening throughout the week.

The weekly rotation includes Zumba, Yoga, and even a “boot camp” style fitness class among others. All classes, which are located near the park’s pavilion, begin at 6 p.m. and are free and open to the public. The 2016 season of Get Healthy on the Railroad began on March 1st, and will continue weekly through October. The exercise program is made possible through funding from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, which also provides Railroad Park with class fitness instructors.

Situated downtown between 14th and 18th streets, Railroad Park spans the length of four city blocks, and since its opening in 2011, the park has become one of Birmingham’s most beloved outdoor spaces. Well known for exceptional views of the city skyline, and for its awe-inspiring landscape design, Railroad Park has also become well-known for hosting a great variety of stellar community events — the majority of which are usually free and open to the public.
