Vulcan Materials to Bring Unique Quarry Crusher Run to Alabama

Vulcan Materials will host Alabama’s first-ever Quarry Crusher Run (The Run) on June 11th at the company’s Dolcito Quarry in Tarrant City. Proceeds from The Run will benefit Tarrant City Schools.

The Run offers a rare chance for runners to test their endurance within a truly unique natural environment. Race categoriesare the Single Crusher, approximately 3.7 miles and the Double Crusher, 7.4 miles. The course will take participants deep into the quarry, challenging runners to climb back out, reaching grades of more than 10 percent for over a mile at some points. The grueling Double Crusher, which takes runners through the course twice, will likely be a challenge to even the most expert runners.

“We are so excited to take this truly unique race on the road and expand the opportunities for more runners to experience it in Birmingham,” says Jaime Lomas, race director. “The dedication of Vulcan Materials Company to support the community is evident in this unique run. In a world of either typical road races every weekend or new fad races that are not very challenging to runners, we think the Quarry Crusher Run offers a different option for people looking for more.”
